Biografia
The Teatro di Via Verdi is the municipal theatre of Vicopisano.
Founded at the end of the nineteenth century, the theatre hosted the Giuseppe Verdi School of Music until the early years of the following century. After the Second World War, it became a cinema, and remained so until the 1980s, when the curtain fell on the Theatre on Via Verdi.
Since 2016, thanks to a major restoration project, Vicopisano has rediscovered a small jewel, a 100-seat theater, adorned with 19th-century paintings that have once again shone thanks to a renovation that also uncovered perimeter walls dating back to the 14th century and returned its magnificent garden to the community. Managed by The Thing since its reopening, the theater hosts weekly courses and theater companies, as well as, of course, plays, debates, conferences, and book presentations. More than just as a theatre, we like to think of it as a true cultural centre, a creative forge within which the most diverse initiatives find space.

Il Teatro di Via Verdi è il teatro comunale di Vicopisano.
Nato a fine Ottocento, fino ai primi anni del secolo successivo il teatro ha ospitato la Scuola di Musica Giuseppe Verdi. Dopo la Seconda Guerra Mondiale, è diventato un cinema, e tale è rimasto fino agli anni Ottanta, quando sul Teatro di via Verdi è calato il sipario.
A partire dal 2016, grazie a un’imponente opera di restauro, Vicopisano ha ritrovato un piccolo gioiello, un teatro da 100 posti, ornato da pitture Ottocentesche tornate a splendere grazie a una ristrutturazione che ha portato alla luce anche mura perimetrali risalenti addirittura al 1300 e ha restituito alla comunità il suo magnifico giardino. Gestito dall'associazione The Thing fin dalla sua riapertura, il teatro ospita ogni settimana corsi e compagnie teatrali, oltre che, naturalmente, spettacoli teatrali, dibattiti, convegni, presentazioni di libri. Più che solo come un teatro, ci piace pensarlo infatti come un vero e proprio centro culturale, una fucina creativa all'interno della quale trovano spazio le iniziative più diverse.
