Kicking Pricks

Milan, 2019-2020 season, four musicians who are no longer young attempt the impossible and venture where few have dared: paying tribute to Nick Cave.

Led by singer Brian K, a spirited baritone who has been on the city's rock scene for at least 30 years, Kicking Pricks is born. Today, the band has six members and their performance is the only tribute to the great Australian bard in Europe (at least in the Mediterranean area). In fact, unsurprisingly, they are more successful on the continent than in their homeland, especially in France, Switzerland and Germany.

Their love for the artist focuses on part of his enormous “classic” output, that is, up to the early 2000s. They start with the toxic and distorted origins of the Birthday Party (1978-82) and move on to the feverish and frenzied style of the early Bad Seeds (1984-88), before continuing with the harmonic and melodic notes of their subsequent work (1990-early 2000s).

The result is a multifaceted repertoire, ranging from sublime melodies to hellish dissonances. A well-thought-out compendium, a unique opportunity to engage with the masterpieces of one of the most important and innovative personalities in contemporary songwriting.
